I have read all of Rick Chesler's books and this is far and away the best.It has the most thrills,tension and excitement I have read.There are so many spoilers I could share,but won't so you can enjoy this amazing novel yourself.I learned so much I never knew about the danger and technical expertise of climbing a mountain like Everest. I know I will read it again.

This is not your typical monster-based book, with spectacular chases and gory attacks. Don't get me wrong it has all that; but it is so much more. It is a very well written novel with a great story and very well developed characters. It is a page-turner throughout. And it has some well placed surprises. For once, this is not a book where the good guy gets the girl; instead he gets an infinitely better reward; he finds himself through a horrendous adventure in the Himalayas. By the way, the Himalayan ascent is so well described, it could be a bona-fide travel blog.
Finally, I found an answer in the book, about one of my life-long questions "Why do people climb Everest and put themselves in such great danger?" The answer given in the book is surprisingly simple and full of wisdom "For perspective". In other words, we all know we are going to die some day, but we do not really believe it. When you climb Everest and face death in every step, you finally believe it, and truly understand how precious life is.
I got caught up in this great book. Took a bit to get started but that was the fleshing out some characters, probably. There was quite a lot of technical climbing stuff that helped paint a pic of the climb on Everest I really loved the ending! WTG Rick!
I enjoyed this story very much, it kept me interested all the way through. The characters were interesting and if you like this sort of story I believe you would enjoy this book. I will be looking for more.
I liked this book! I found it to be a fun and suspenseful novel. It had a few twists and turns in it that I thought were a very nice touch. Definitely worth checking out.
Didn't think much of this book. Very little about Yeti with most of the book concerning the main character climbing the mountain. Was not impressed at all. I have read other books by this author some were good some were just okay like this book. If you are looking for a good monster story I would recommend something else.
I loved it. There was a few times I could actually hear the wind howling in my head. I enjoy these kind of books with monsters and high adventure!
I can only say this book is amazing. As an anthropologist who has studied the folklore of various cultures, I have always wondered what kernels of truth can be found in the stories of the Yeti in the Old World and the Sasquatch in the New World. Clearly those cultures saw something they couldn't explain. This book dives right in with a grieving widower, Mount Everest, an expedition of amateur climbers, and something. The characters are vibrant, the setting is the highest mountain in the world, and the level of research is in depth and incredible. This is definitely not a novel like Bigfoot stole my Girlfriend and how I stole her back. This novel draws some serious conclusions. A great mix of fact and fiction. Keep Wikipedia close. I had to use it several times. Well done authors.
